The 56th Executive Committee Meeting of SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry was held on 13th July 2012 in Colombo, Sri Lanka under the chair of Mr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, President, SAARC CCI.
The meeting was attended by Members from the National Chambers/ Federations including Immediate Past President Mr. Annisul Huq (Bangladesh), former President Mr. Tariq Sayeed (Pakistan), Vice Presidents Mr. Mahendra Pramar, (India), Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik (Pakistan), Mr. Kosala Wikramnayake (Sri Lanka), EC members from Bangladesh, Bhutan,, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, completing the quorum for conduct of meeting.
The house unanimously approved the minutes of last Executive Committee Meeting held in Paro, Bhutan. The major agenda items discuss during 56th EC meeting included strategy to activate SAARC CCI councils and amendment in the SAARC CCI constitution clause regarding Associate Membership. Mr. S J B Madhukar Rana, Former Finance Minister of Nepal was invited to make a presentation on role of SAARC CCI in the Changed Global Scenario. The meeting ended with thanks to the chair a proposed Lahore, Pakistan as the venue for 57th EC Meeting on the occasion of LEADS SOUTH ASIA-2013 in month of November 2012.
