SAARC Charter Day Celebration by SAARC CCI & FICCI

To commemorate 27th Anniversary of SAARC and express Solidarity with SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation), SAARC CCI and FICCI celebrated SAARC Charter Day 2012 on 8th December 2012, at Hotel Taj Mansingh, Mansingh Road, New Delhi, India.

On this occasion Shri Sudhir Vyas read out the message of the Prime Minister of India released for this SAARC Charter Day. Speaking on the occasion, Padma Shri Vikramjit Sahney said, “SAARC was chartered to give a collective commitment and greater meaning and content to the region. Since then, it has emerged as beacon of hope and expectation of millions of people in the region. Admittedly, there is a lot to be done but the political will is there.” He further added, “The business community of the region is committed to promote economic cooperation of the region and SAARC CCI is actively involved in promoting economic liberalization in the region through number of activities focused on awareness building on core issues including Energy & climate change, food security, intra-regional connectivity, developing global linkages, education, non-tariff barriers and more.” He said that SCCI will do its utmost to make SAARC region an effective instrument to deliver on our vision of common peace, shared prosperity and cooperation.

The occasion had the flavor of young and old alike in their true national costumes proudly accentuating their countries and mingling within the region. The Armed Forces band welcomed the dignitaries in the national flavor and flags of all countries proudly displayed the diversity in uniformity. This was further accentuated in the country panels that showcased the interdependence of the countries as also the diversity and abundance of natural treasures therein making this region a self sustainable.
