SAARC CCI Acting President calls-on Pak Finance Minister at Kathmandu

Acting President SAARC CCI Mr. Suraj Vaidya called on Hon’ble Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Finance, Government of Pakistan  at the occasion of 7th SAARC Finance Minister’s Meeting held on 20th August, 2015 at Kathmandu . The Acting President was accompanied by prominent business leaders from Nepal, who had detailed discussion on various issues including ways and means to enhance economic cooperation in SAARC and also between Nepal and Pakistan. He thanked the Government and private sector of Pakistan for extending generous support to the victims of earthquake.

Hon’ble Minister apprised Acting President of SAARC CCI  about vast opportunities in various economic sectors in Pakistan, and liberal investment policy of the country, which offered many lucrative incentives to foreign investors. He expressed keen interest to improve bilateral ties between two countries to the extent of the potential.

On this occasion, Mr. Vaidya  briefed the Minister about SAARC CCI activities across the region, which acknowledging assistance of the Government of Pakistan for construction of SAARC CCI Headquarters Building Project at Islamabad.  He emphasized for enhanced role and participation of the Private Sector in regional dialogue, while regarding the Regional financial cooperation  mechanism as a way forward to enhance cross border trade and investment. He sought closer cooperation in the areas of mutual interest particularly in agriculture, garments, hydro power sectors. Acting President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry also requested Finance Minister for resumption of PIA flight to Kathmandu, Nepal.
