Seminar on “Trade and Investment in South Asia Opportunities for Afghanistan” Kabul, Afghanistan

SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with  Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries in collaboration  and in partnership with Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) organized a conference on “Trade and Investment Opportunities for Afghanistan” on April 13, 2016, at Serena Hotel -Kabul, Afghanistan.
 
Hon’ble Mr. Humayoon Rasaw, Minister of Afghanistan Commerce and Industries, was the Chief Guest and delivered a key note address. The seminar was also addressed by Mr. Suraj Vaidya, President of SAARC CCI, Mr. Om Bahadur Raj Bhandary, Vice President- SAARC CCI from Nepal, Mr. Mohammad Yonass Mohmand, Vice-President (Afghanistan), SAARC CCI & Commercial Vice-Chairman ACCI.  Mr. Atiqullah Nusrat, CEO of ACCI delivered welcome address and moderated the session.
 
The Hon’able Minister in his key note addressed urged upon South Asian Private sector to take part actively in development of Afghanistan and benefit from enormous opportunities available in Afghanistan.  He said that SAARC Region was the biggest market place for the South Asian Countries by having the 1/4th population of the world, if the SAARC Countries start doing business among them, it will have extremely positive impact on the other parts of the world.
 
Earlier Mr. Atiqullah Nusrat, CEO of ACCI delivered a welcome address to the delegates of South Asian countries and said  the prime objective of the gathering as availing the opportunity of face to face meetings among members of regional countries in order to enhance regional integrity.  
 
Mr. Suraj Vaidya president of SAARC CCI in his keynote address termed Afghanistan as land of opportunities with enormous untapped natural resources and called on international investor to come and invest in Afghanistan. “The trade turnover among the regional countries would witness a hefty increase by providing facilities in access to visa”. The SAARC CCI would  like to work closely with SAARC member states to create investment friendly climate in the region and would work to expand youth entrepreneurship in the region, promote gender equality and give due recognition to women entrepreneurs.
 
Mr. Alhaj Mohammad Younass Momand, Vice President SAARC CCI (Afghanistan) urged the SAARC member countries and relevant authorities to actively participate in economic development of Afghanistan through investment in infrastructure projects. Expressing hope over future regional cooperation Mr. Momand called the strengthening of these cooperation’s vital for economic prosperity of regional countries..
 
Mr. Muzamil Shinwari, Afghanistan Deputy Commerce Minister while briefing the participant on two and multilateral agreements among Afghanistan and SAARC member countries, termed the better implementation of aforesaid agreements in the best interest of the entire region. On behalf of Ministry of commerce and industries Mr. Shinwari assured the delegation of full support from the ministry of commerce and industries.
 
Mr. Walid Majidyar Deputy of AISA made presentation on potential business and investment opportunities of Afghanistan. He highlighted   the regional connectivity of the SAARC Region and the role of Afghanistan in connecting the SAARC region to the central Asia and beyond and offered all the SAARC countries to take advantage of lucrative investment incentives from liberal policy of Afghanistan. The seminar concluded with vote of thanks.
