SAARC CCI Delegation Call on to the Secretary, Ministry of Industries, Government of Pakistan

President Mr. Sura Vaidya led a delegation to call-on  Mr. Khizer Hyat Gondal, the Secretary, Ministry of Industries Government of Pakistan, on April 15th, 2016 at Islamabad Pakistan.

Mr. Vaidya briefed about SAARC CCI strategic planning  including six point agenda for his term of presidency that includes, boosting investments, embodying a CEO forum, initiatives for Youth and SMEs and development of industrial parks and improve mobility of businesspersons. He said that while governments were talking about SAFTA and other bilateral and multi-lateral agreement, still the South Asian region is the least integrated region across the world. He said that none of the South Asian member country had developed policies to attract intra-regional investments. He was of view that to attract the intra-regional investment and FDI the South Asian countries needs to give incentives to the industrialization of the economies. He also shared the vision of SAARC Industrial Parks with the Secretary of Industries and requested the Secretary, Ministry of Industries to earmark a piece of land in any suitable place to set up SAARC Industrial Park.

The Secretary of Industries welcomed the vision of the President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and assured his fullest cooperation in achieving goals set by the SAARC CCI, particularly in development of Industrial park in Pakistan.  During the meeting it was transpired that SAARC CCI will furnish a detailed proposal, which Ministry of Industry will consider to move ahead.
