SAARC Investment Forum

SAARC CCI organized “SAARC Investment Forum” aimed at nurturing greater economic cooperation between its members, in collaboration with Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry Sri Lanka (FCCISL), and in partnership with Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) on September 6, 2017.   Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Hon’ble Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe, inaugurated the event. The forum was followed by a three day “SAARC Trade Fair” to enhance trade and investment cooperation among SAARC member states.

The inaugural session was followed by technical sessions which were addressed by Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty, Director Infrastructure Finance Division, Private Sector Operations Department, Asian Development Bank, Mr. Ralph Van Doorn, Senior Country Economist, World Bank,   Mr. V.K. Kharbanda, Project Director, South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration-IRADE (Integrated Research and Action Development),  Mr. Thilan Wijesinghe Chairman, National Agency for Public Private Partnership, Mr. Shahroz Jalil (Market Development Watch), Country representative, Mr. Kushan Kodituwakku, Managing Director, Orel Corporation (Pvt) Limited, Ms. Subhashini Abeysinghe, Director Verite Research, Sri Lanka and representatives of BOI from SAARC Member states. Presentations on investment opportunities in respective SAARC countries were shared by respective BOI representative.

The forum drew over 250 investors and influential figures, such as local and foreign investors and entrepreneurs, fund managers, Chairmen and CEO’s, owners of enterprises, representatives of global trade associations, international development agencies and high level Government officials from SAARC countries.
